MORE ABOUT THE EPISODE…
Josh sits down with Greenbelly Meals founder Chris Cage. Greenbelly Meals makes delicious super nutrient dense stove-less backpacking meals. Cage dove headfirst into the backcountry meal game after stepping away from his stable accountant job to travel the world, starting with Asia and, shortly after, biking across New Zealand from coast to coast. His ultimate goal? To hike the entirety of the Appalachian Trail, which he did (like a boss). With all his travel and after tons of calories spent, it would be on that very excursion that he came up with the idea of a simple, easy, calorie-efficient meal. Time between his resupply points for food was 3-6 days apart so he was looking for low weight calorie dense meal and it didn’t take long for him to commit to fill his own needs. As soon as he got back to civilization he got to work and it wasn’t long until Greenbelly was filling the stomachs of happy hikers
